Luca: Bangsar's new all-day dining spot offers wholesome Indian and European delights

Sorry might seem like the hardest word to some but admitting that food is life shouldn't be too difficult to most. Whether you're a foodie like I am or if you're familiar with establishments such as Rockefellers, Rock Bottom, La Chica, and Frangipaani, you'd be happy to know that there is a new dining spot by The Olive Tree Group — the team behind these eateries.

Luca, the latest restaurant to launch in Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC), opened its doors to the public on 9 February 2022. Described as restaurateur Leslie Gomez and The Olive Tree Group's biggest venture so far, Luca is an all-day dining venue for anyone seeking an amalgamation of a sophisticated dining experience and an extensive menu filled with diverse offerings.

The Instagram-worthy decor — filled with alluring blue and an elegant setting — can be seen throughout Luca's two different sections. The main dining area is where you can go for a casual meal with loved ones whereas the outdoor (bar) area allows patrons to relax and enjoy a pub-like experience. Just don't expect anyone to go "Silenzio, Bruno" (and that's probably great news).

What can you expect from Luca's menu? Luca offers dishes apt for an experience of gastronomical proportions with options such as Breakfast Tacos with Iberico Duck, Angus Tenderloin Carpaccio, Crab Bisque with Charred Tiger Prawns and Crabmeat, Baked Brie Cheese, Chicken Liver Pate with Truffle Onion Marmalade, Hariyali Lamb Chops, as well as the Kebab Platter with Chicken Tikka, Chicken Malai Tikka, Maharaja Seekh Kebab, and Prawn Lasooni Tikka.

If you're craving for European mains, you'll also find selections like Cod and Mussels with Cauliflower Puree, Lamb Rack with Pistachio Crust and Black Tobiko, Portobello Steaks with Beetroot Hummus and Basil Pesto, as well as Spanish Octopus with Pumpkin Puree and Plum Chutney.

With the Indian fare at Frangipaani being among my favourites in town, Luca's Indian specialties sure are enticing. Check out dishes such as Crab Meat Xec Xec (Crab curry cooked with house roasted spices in cold-pressed coconut oil), Crab Chettinad (Crab cooked in dry roasted chettinad spices in cold-pressed sesame oil), Luca's Malai Kofta (Paneer and potato dumplings in smooth cashew gravy), Luca's Butter Chicken, as well as Dal Makhani (Overnight Tandoor-cooked whole urad lentils).

Up for a glass of wine or two? There are more than 50 varieties of wine mainly from France and Italy to choose from. In addition, Luca also offers cocktails such as Lady In Pink, Pepino Spiced Cooler, Rum and Smoke, and Chai Martini as well as coffee and juices.
