#RawrnNoms: 10 New places to eat in KL this December 2020

If you're a fan of all things food, this is the list for you. Every month, I'll round up the latest and the newest restaurants and cafes in Kuala Lumpur and beyond for you — so you have your list of indulgence sorted.
For December 2020, the list includes a plethora of Insta-worthy cafes, a new Japanese omakase restaurant, a new establishment by Curate Group, and more.
1 | Willow Kuala Lumpur
Taking over Saint Pierre Kuala Lumpur's spot in W Kuala Lumpur is Willow — located on the 8th floor of the hotel. Along with an open bar, the fine dining restaurant's menu is an amalgamation of East meets West with a modernist approach. Described as an ode to the season of spring, dishes to try include Scallop with Lemongrass Velouté, Seaweed, and Sea Foam; Keladi Rice with Miso, Pickled Shallots, Dehydrated Watermelon, and Miso Crumble; as well as Cold Somen Noodles with Ikura, Dashi Broth, and Lime.
2 | Sakana Japanese Dining
Situated in Suria KLCC, this isn't your everyday casual Japanese culinary establishment. The restaurant's menu includes the likes of Yakitori skewers grilled using Binchotan charcoal and Koshihikari rice infused with house crafted vinegar. Its location also allows you to feast while enjoying views of KLCC Park.
3 | Hinoiri
One of the latest omakase restaurants in town, Hinoiri — located in Bukit Jalil — is named after the word for sunset in Japanese. Available for dinner, ingredients here are said to be air-flown from Japan. Helmed by Chef Foo, you will find a range of omakase menus to choose from.
4 | YewYew
This new cafe in Chinatown might be small in size but it sure packs a punch with its offerings — from specialty coffee to pastries. The minimalistic cafe is situated on the Ground Floor of Bangunan Ka Yin.
5 | Small Shifting Space
SSS in Petaling Street is a wine bar by night and a cosy cafe by day. The wine menu showcases natural and biodynamic wines whereas the cafe offers a plethora of delectable pastries — including chocolate tarts. You will also be able to feast on a menu curated by Chef Chin Wong.
6 | Canvass
Helmed by Danish chef Nikolaj Lenz and Bangladeshi mixologist M. I. Rony, Canvass is a bistro and bar with a focus on sustainable hedonism. Placed in Old Malaya, you will find a Nordic-inspired menu filled with options such as Slow Braised Australian Boneless Lamb Leg with Carrot Puree and Greens; as well as Beef Tartare of Australian Angus with Slow Cooked Free Range Egg Yolk and Salsa Verde.
7 | Park Grill
Serving continental American classics and modern Josper cooking, Park Grill — open for dinners — is operated by Curate Group, the team behind Sushi Ryu and Tenmasa. Located in Platinum Park (taking over BLVD House's spot), Park Grill offers a myriad of signature dishes. They include three types of oysters (US Pacific, Shigoku, and Kumamoto), Park Grill Tomahawk (with Japanese Black beef from Tokushima Prefecture), and Truffle Fries.
8 | Wú Cafe Gallery
This new cafe in Kota Damansara is the ideal spot for your Instagram needs. Its aesthetics can best be described as raw, grey, and minimal. In addition to the Dirty Latte and Gula Melaka Latte, you will also find options such as Chashu Shoe Ramen and Chasu Don.
9 | Osteria Gamberoni
Based in Yap Ah Shak House, this is where you go for heritage Italian cooking. Indulge in Roman-style pizza, fresh pasta, as well as free range poultry and locally-sourced seafood. Helmed by Head Chef Daniele Ponzani, the menu consists of dishes such as Tagliata di Manzo alla Griglia (Grilled black Angus tenderloin, baked garlic, and roast potato); Polletto Arrosto (Roast whole spring chicken, white wine, baked potato, and garlic); as well as Boscaiola pizza (mozzarella, scamorza, duck sausage, and mushrooms).
10 | Gure Cafe
This new cafe in Ara Damansara is an amalgamation of Instagrammable aesthetics as well as pastries and specialty coffee. Its both a sanctuary for serenity and treats.
