#RawrnNoms: 13 New places to eat in KL this January 2021

If you're a fan of all things food, this is the list for you. Every month, I'll round up the latest and the newest restaurants and cafes in Kuala Lumpur and beyond for you — so you have your list of indulgence sorted.
For January 2021, the list includes a plethora of Insta-worthy cafes, a new flagship Italian restaurant, a new establishment by Chef James Won, a new bakery by Michelle Young, and more.
1 | Simply Good Food
What was once Real Food is now Simply Good Food. Established by Berjaya Cafe, the new eatery is the newest destination in town for plant-based concoctions. Dishes to check out include Coconut Curry Soup, Simply Good Nasi Lemak, Organic Fried Vermicelli, Vegan Pumpkin and Sage Risotto, as well as Vegan Truffle Pizza. Here, you can also get tea from Sonnentor Tea and coffee from Barbera. You will also find a plethora of Beyond Meat dishes here.

2 | GaGa Cakes
This new spot in Seventeen Mall offers a wide variety of pastries and cakes — alongside a vivid and colourful interior. Popular options at the new dessert destination include Earl Grey chiffon cake with lychee floral cream, chocolate and caramel mousse tarts, as well as Paris-Brests with pistachio. GaGa Cakes is located right beside Superfine.

3 | Arte by Thomas Chan
Located on the 66th floor of Arte Mont Kiara, the new restaurant is the epitome of extravagance — both in appearance and culinary offering. Chef Francessco Freddie helms the kitchen here; curating a European-influenced menu to go along with an interior featuring various eras of European architecture.

4 | Fine Coffee & Flowers
From Soft Launch in Sri Petaling to Sunday Coffee in OUG to Fine Flowers by Vach — now comes a new cafe in Ampang. Fine Coffee & Flowers offers everything from Lemon-glazed Madeleines and Big Breakfast to sourdough bread with home-made fruit jam and Burnt Cheesecake.

5 | Roberto's 1020
Launched by Petra Cucina as the group's first ever flagship outlet, Roberto's 1020 — helmed by Roberto Guiati and Chef Christian Grandi — is the go-to spot for classic and traditional Tuscan and Emilian recipes. Fun fact: its sister restaurant, Luce Osteria Contemporanea, was listed as one of the Top 10 Pizzerias in Asia by the Italy-based 50 Top Pizza 2020 Awards.

6 | Bouchon Enfin by James Won
Established by Malaysian chef James Won, Bouchon Enfin is a French restaurant with a Malaysian twist. Star dishes include Pork Tomahawk, Beef Steak & Frites, Coq au Vin, and Hamburger with pork lard and Australian beef patty. For dessert, try the unique combination of Sarawak pineapple, peppercorn tarte tatin, and vanilla parfait glace.

7 | Henry & Camille
This new cafe in Damansara Heights isn't just spacious and filled with ample natural light, Henry & Camille is also the place for delectable coffee and toothsome treats. Unwind over a pot of tea and immerse yourself in an interior donned by different shades of green.

8 | Michelle Young
Established by Michelle herself, Michelle Young is a new bakery-cafe in Bukit Jalil. Here, you'll be able to find toothsome options such as dark chocolate sea salt cake, triple chocolate cookie, Matcha Nutella Hazelnut cookie, and more. You can also get Salted Caramel Scones and a variety of doughnuts here. Michelle Young is now only available for takeaway and delivery only; but there will be a dine-in option in the future.

9 | Wild Man Camping Club
Occupying a small space in Wild Man Camping Club is a little cafe offering drinks and desserts. Helmed by Queeny (from Kok Far), options to try include the tofu cheesecake, Aged Lemon Hai, Matcha Cream Croissant Waffle, and salami croissant waffle. Oh, don't forget to make an appointment before heading over.

10 | 270 SQFT
There's a new cafe in Sea Park and it goes by the name of 270 SQFT. While you're here, check out their Yuzu Tonic, Rum Cheesecake, and Salmon Bagel. If you're up for more #OOTD shots, 270 SQFT will do the trick.

11 | Koro Koro Cafe
If you're craving for Japanese comfort food, here's a spot for you. Koro Koro Cafe offers options such as pan seared beef tataki, gyozas, yuzu soda, coffee, and dessert.

12 | HEJAÜ
Situated in The Gasket Alley, the new cafe specialises in all things matcha. Try the matcha tumeric ginger oat latte, matcha lemonade, matcha pastries, and more. Well, it seems like there's a new matcha haven in town.

13 | Jio @ The Roof
Described as Malaysia’s first-ever wine concierge, Jio is both a wine bar and restaurant — offering amazing views of the city skyline. You will find a wide array of new and old world wines here as well as a food menu filled with options from Fresh Truffle Mushroom Soup and Angel Hair Lobster Tail to Pan Fried Macadamia Nut Crust Cod Fish and Chargrill Angus Tenderloin with Foie Gras.
