Valentine's Day 2021: Where to get special menus in KL for a romantic celebration at home

This year, Valentine's Day falls on the third day of Chinese New Year. This means that it's double the celebrations for many — not just here in Malaysia but around the world. The more, the merrier, right? Well, in this context, let me just answer my own question and say yes.

Of course, with Movement Control Order 2.0 in effect at the moment (until 18 February 2021), dine-ins are prohibited. This calls for a more homely affair with many places now offering deliveries and takeaways. Whether you're celebrating with a partner, a family member, a friend, or yourself, these Valentine's Day set menus can help you up the ante come 14 February.

1 | Maria's SteakCafe

The popular homegrown brand is offering a four-course Valentine's Day delivery menu — available from 6 February to 21 February 2021 — with main course options of Australian Beef, Australian Wagyu, Japanese Wagyu, Atlantic White Cod, or New Zealand Lamb. In addition, the menu also comprises of smoked salmon as the appetiser as well as a portion of mushroom, a portion of pumpkin soup, and two portions of moist chocolate cake.

Maria's SteakCafe is also offering a three-course Valentine's Day meal kit. You can cook your meal according to the instructions provided by the chef.

2 | New World Petaling Jaya Hotel

New World Petaling Jaya Hotel's Valentine's Day Afternoon Tea set is inspired by Sound of Flower’s self-love philosophy. Available for delivery and self pick-up from 5 February to 15 February 2021, the Celebrate Love Afternoon Tea set comprises of treats such as the Smoked Salmon Napoleon with Crème Fraiche and Caviar on Lavash Bread and Raspberry Mint Mille-feuille as well as a gift from Sound of Flower consisting of one Vibrational Healing Roller and one Bach Flower Hydrating Face & Body Mist.

Other treats on the menu include the likes of Chocolate Coffee Petit Gateau, Brownies Cupcake, Lemon Cream Puff, Strawberry Cheese Cake, Tabasco Prawns with Beetroot Cheese Mousse, and coffee from Nespresso.

3 | Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur

Available from 12 February to 15 February 2021, the hotel's Valentine’s Day box contains everything you need to whip up a four-course menu at home. Start with Love Is Patient (Crab, Prawns and Fennel Terrine Green Pea Cream, Asparagus Orange Salad and Citrus Vinaigrette) before moving on to Love Is Patient (Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup, Blue Cheese Gnocchi and Brioche Crouton).

For the mains, you have Love Does Not Envy (Harissa-Spiced Chicken Roulade and Smoked Duck Breast Pot Au Feu, Truffle Gyoza and Roots Vegetable). End the romantic meal on a sweet high with Sweet Endings (Hazelnut, Lemon and White Chocolate Pudding,

Yuzu Honey Shooter Tube with Strawberry Mascarpone Cream). Pre-orders are required a day in advance.

Kikubari's Valentine's Date@Home pack comes with two portions of Chutoro, one portion of Wagyu Chirashizushi, assorted Japanese pickles, and Yuzu marshmallows. You can also choose from either a non-alcoholic sparking juice set, or Kikubari's signature ready-to-drink cocktails. For Valentine's Day, the hotel's Pastry Chef Suzana Anwar and team are offering heart-shaped cakes, chocolates, and macarons that are available for delivery or takeaway. You have the Valentine’s Chocolate Box (RM68), Valentine's Chocolate Pralines (RM68), Heart Macarons (RM58), and Red Velour Heart (RM28/RM168; combination of white chocolate cremeux, cherry mousse, and raspberry compote to complete the raspberry sponge cake). Roses and flower bouquets will also be on sale in partnership with Tailored Floral.

7 | Kloe Hotel

The boutique hotel's Monroe has curated a seven-course Date-at-Home kit for Valentine's Day — meant to be shared by two. Available for orders from 8 February, meals will be delivered on 14 February. On the menu, you'll find Crab Brioche, Whole Roast Spring Chicken, Waldorf Salad, Charred Local Greens, Potato Layers, Blondies and Brownies, as well as Hazelnut Tiramisu.
